Finding The Right Practitioner
Your health care & fertility are important; inform yourself, do some research first.
Along your journey, while researching books and looking on the internet, you may wonder how to find an acupuncture practitioner that is best for you. You will likely find that once you locate one key fertility specialist they will guide you in the direction of other holistic fertility specialists.My recommendation is to be aware of general practitioners who claim to have specialties in treating fertility. While many do have special training and are very gifted practitioners, others may think or wish they do. Your first step is to do a little research. I recommend you interview your practitioner before booking an appointment for treatment.
Guidelines for interviewing potential practitioners
Here are some initial guidelines we suggest you keep in mind when interviewing a potential practitioner:
- What percentage of your practice is fertility?
- Tell me what you know about fertility medications, ART procedures and any potential contraindications/benefits of combining your modality with my fertility treatment.
- It is easy for someone to say, "Sure, I know all about treating fertility," but we recommend that you seek concrete proof that this practitioner has studied, read, and practiced in a significant real-life way.
- If you are currently seeing an acupuncturist or holistic practitioner who does not know whether something is appropriate for you, err on the side of caution or find a different practitioner.
