 Luteal Phase Defect & Acupuncture

Luteal phase defect (LPD) is very common condition that affects fertility and the ability to maintain a pregnancy.  This conditions is characterized by failure of uterine lining to be in the right phase at the right time needed from implantation.  Luteal phase defect can disrupt the cycle in several places. 

Causes of Luteal Phase Defect include:

• Poor follicle production
• Premature demise of corpus luteum
• Failure of uterine lining to respond to normal levels of progesterone. 

Women with LPD who monitor the time of ovulation often notice that their cycle begins sooner than normal.  If LPD is suspected, blood tests can help confirm inadequate h production as well as other tests to measure follicle maturity, and uterine lining.
